Most busy homeowners are looking for easy care artificial plants to spruce up their home decor in a way that creates an instant impact but requires little maintenance.  Every now and then they do need a little attention so we are listing our tips on how to clean and care for artificial plants and flowers.

Artificial plants and fake flowers are often an option that allergy sufferers find less reactive and more tolerable in their homes, however like anything in the home, they do collect some dust on the leaves and flowers just as real plants would.  This dust needs to be removed to reduce those allergens and to improve the look and lifespan of each plant or flower.

With regular maintenance artificial plants can be used for years on end.  Following just a few of the below tips could have your home reaping the benefits of some added ever green plants for a long time.

How do I effectively dust my artificial plants and flowers?

Using a soft cloth or duster to gently remove dust periodically from leaves and petals is absolutely necessary to keep your artificial plants and flowers looking their best.

Cleaning with gentle strokes without being too harsh should not harm your plant or artificial floral stems in any way.

Compressed air to gently blow away dust could also be used if the compressed air is held far enough away to avoid damaging small artificial petals and flowers.

What techniques should I use to clean my artificial plants?

After lightly dusting your artificial plants a light clean may also be beneficial in some cases but what techniques should you use to clean your plants and artificial flowers?

A soft damp cloth can be used to lightly wipe the foliage of your fake plants and flowers, gently wiping with a cloth that is not too damp will not harm your HGDCO artificial plants or flowers.

Once dusted and wiped, allow the plant or flowers to dry thoroughly before putting them back into place within your home.

How can I safely store my artificial flowers and ever-green plants when not in use?

Of course, we are all for re-styling and re-using artificial flowers and plants again and again, but how can you store them away when you don’t require them for a period of time?

Storing them correctly can help ensure they remain a sound investment and can be used again, and remain just as beautiful as the day you bought them home.

Our tip for larger artificial plants is to gather any large branches and leaves in a bundle and cover them with a plastic bag or sheet that is large enough to gently and loosely cover any branches and leaves.  This will help limit the amount of dust that gathers on your plants while stored.

Once carefully wrapped, store gently upright if possible in a dry, dark place.

Artificial floral stems can be gently stored in storage containers or boxes.  A container that is long enough to not impact the length of the floral stem as it is stored will work perfectly for artificial flowers.

Lay your artificial flowers gently in layers within the box.  A sheet of tissue paper gently placed between each layer as you store your artificial flowers within the box will help keep your flowers safe for a longer period of time.

What can I use to get my artificial flowers and plants back into shape?

During storage and everyday use artificial plants, just like real plants can get bumped or pushed slightly out of shape.  With artificial plants using a hairdryer on a warm setting can help the materials get warm enough to allow you to easily manipulate the artificial leaves and stems back into shape.

Direct the warm air from the hairdryer onto the place that needs attention and while warm, gently move the part of the plant that needs attention to where you would like it to be.

Artificial flowers and ever green plants can be a cost-effective and low-maintenance way to create a beautiful indoor garden or showpiece with very little maintenance.
